Mosley: No Penalty for Toyota
FIA president Max Mosley has confirmed that Toyota will receive no penalty over the administrative error that meant they competed in the first races of the year without the correct paperwork in place
An exclusive report in this month's F1 Racing revealed that the Japanese car manufacturer had not got their national competition licence and Superlicence paperwork in order until just prior to the Spanish Grand Prix - meaning there was a chance they could lose the points they scored at the beginning of the year.
But although the FIA confirmed that they were investigating the matter, Mosley claimed on Monday that there was no chance of Toyota facing any sanctions for the error.
"There won't be any penalties for Toyota, even though until the Spanish Grand Prix they raced without the licences required by the FIA," said Mosley in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport. "I think it was a mistake, with no real cheating involved."
Mosley's stance towards Toyota comes after the FIA banned BAR for two races and disqualified them from the San Marino Grand Prix for illegally running fuel as ballast.
