Schumacher Steers Clear of Testing Debate

With Ferrari's F2005 showing an incredible turn of speed at the San Marino Grand Prix, there are growing fears that the team's decision to conduct their own extensive testing programme could help them pave the way to a major world title fightback.

Those fears prompted Schumacher's brother Ralf, a Toyota driver, to accuse Ferrari of gaining an 'unfair' advantage because of that testing advantage.

"We restrict ourselves and Ferrari carry on testing happily. I don't understand this. What they are doing is unfair to everyone else," he said. "We're interested in F1 carrying on for a long time, while Ferrari are not. That's not the right way."

But Michael has deflected his brother's criticism - saying it was his team who took the decision.

"Ralf said it's not right for Ferrari to test anytime?" said Schumacher in Gazzetta dello Sport. "There is no point replying to that. It's not an accusation towards me."
