Montoya Not Worried about Ferrari

Ferrari stole a march on their rivals at the start of last season when they won 12 of the first 13 races of the season but Montoya does not believe they are on the radar now.

"I wouldn't be so concerned with Ferrari," said Montoya. "The Renault looks very strong but we've shown today we have pretty decent pace and we have to make it work when it matters."

Ferrari's decision to use their old F2004 machine, modified to meet the 2005 regulations, in the opening few races of this season has left them on the back foot as their rivals race ahead.

Renault struck the first blow when Italian Giancarlo Fisichella won the season-opening race in Australia two weeks ago and now Montoya is hoping McLaren can take the spoils in Malaysia.

But the Colombian, who moved to McLaren at the start of this year and set strong times in pre-season testing, admitted it is harder for him to get to grips with the car now that the circus is moving from track to track.

"Now we are going to different tracks and making our life a little bit harder," he added. "We are trying different things and finding out what works for me and I think we are finding it out. But it's going to be a very interesting race."
