Barcelona test cancelled

BAR, Williams, Ferrari, Toyota and Sauber were all due to conduct testing at the venue of the Spanish Grand Prix but are now considering their options after problems with oil seeping through the asphalt surface left the track undriveable.

Anthony Davidson, who as BAR test driver had run on the track earlier this weekend, was left amazed by just how bad the oil had left the track.

"It is just so slippery," he said. "Lap times are almost 20 seconds slower than they should be and we are actually quicker on intermediates in the dry than on grooved tyres."

Sauber has already cancelled its Barcelona test and will now stay in Valencia, while Ferrari, Toyota and Williams are already heading to join them.

The teams may be forced to find another venue later this week, however, because McLaren has booked exclusive use of Valencia for some of the days.
