Albers happy with Jordan debut
DTM star Christijan Albers pronounced himself happy with his Jordan Formula 1 testing debut, despite being hampered by the poor weather during the 62 laps he completed for the team at Jerez on Tuesday
The Dutchman, who is contracted to Mercedes' DTM squad in 2005, is actively seeking a move to F1 next year with either Jordan or Minardi and is keen to impress. Albers joined compatriot Robert Doornbos for the test in Spain, where he drove a 2004-spec EJ14.
Albers' time of 1m24.452s was good enough for 13th overall and was more than half a second quicker than that managed by Doornbos, although the latter was running some 2005-spec aero developments.
"Like the team, I'm very happy with the way things went today," said Albers. "Under changing conditions we did a good amount of mileage and I could even show my ground speed. And that was exactly what we both wanted to achieve!
"Though I'd never driven in this car and on this track before, I could easily find my rhythm. It's a shame that due to the rain we couldn't ran as quick as I might have done, but I hope to be able to show that another time."
