Schumacher changes engine
Ferrari has changed the engine on World Champion Michael Schumacher's Ferrari F2004 ahead of today's (Sunday) inaugural Chinese Grand Prix. The change means the German will either start from the back of the grid, or from the pitlane
"It will be one or the other," technical director Ross Brawn said. "We need to have a look at the strategies and just see what's best."
Schumacher qualified in 18th spot - the worst position of his career - after a spin at the first corner. The German aborted his lap with only the Minardi of Gianmaria Bruni and BAR's Takuma Sato behind him - Bruni also spun at the first corner and aborted his lap while Sato dropped 10 places after his engine change on Friday.
Under regulations introduced this season, engines must last a full weekend and drivers lose 10 places on the starting grid for every change. If an engine change occurs from Saturday onwards then drivers start from the back of the grid, or from the pitlane.
