Silverstone 1: McLaren flies

Kimi Raikkonen blitzed his best time over the British Grand Prix weekend as he and team-mate David Coulthard continued to develop McLaren's exciting new MP4-19B at the Northamptonshire circuit on Monday

The McLaren pair shared the circuit with Jordan's Nick Heidfeld, while Ferrari tester Luca Badoer ploughed a lone furrow at Monza as the Grand Prix teams got stuck into their final week's work before the summer test ban.

Raikkonen and Coulthard both dipped under the best time set by anyone over the race weekend (1m18.233s by Raikkonen in qualifying), with the Finn over half a second better on 1m17.649s.

The pair are scheduled to continue to their test at the Northamptonshire track on Tuesday as McLaren's test drivers Pedro de la Rosa and Alex Wurz run at Jerez.

Meanwhile Badoer completed 51 laps at Monza for Ferrari, working on tyre and aerodynamics programmes and setting a best time of 1m22.438s.
