Panis plans for points
Olivier Panis is aiming to score points for Toyota in this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal. The Frenchman and his Brazilian team-mate Cristiano da Matta see the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as one where the TF104 will be at its strongest
Both drivers particularly like the Montreal venue and Panis says that recent testing results have given him cause for optimism.
"At last week's Monza test," he said, "we worked expressly on Canada and US preparations and we looked reasonably good running Canada downforce levels so we'll be trying to get on the scoreboard this weekend."
Da Matta recognises the worth of Toyota's powerful engine, but he is not so sure that he can trouble the scorers this time.
"Our TF104 should be reasonably well suited to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve; our engine has proven itself to be one of the strongest and most reliable on the grid," said the Brazilian. "But we need to find the car balance to match. I doubt we can finish in the points without benefiting from misfortune ahead of us, but we will continue to do our best."
