Ferrari testing hit by rain
With just 12 days remaining before the Formula 1 field hits the track in Melbourne, Australia, Ferrari showed the urgency of putting miles on its new challenger, the F2004, by embarking on a weekend of testing at Mugello in Italy
After snow showers disrupted its running earlier this week, Rubens Barrichello took to the track on Saturday to develop the new car. The Brazilian completed 57 laps with a quickest time of 1m25.842s, although rain showers reduced the amount of dry laps he could manage.
On Sunday, its running was affected by bad weather once more. Barrichello only managed 22 laps (17 of which were on the short version of the track) and his best time was 1m27.515s. The team has now taken the decision to switch Imola, which means that testing there will start on Monday, one day earlier than planned, with Barrichello driving once again.
On Tuesday, therefore, we should get the first head-to-head running between the F2004 and its rivals from Williams, McLaren and Toyota.
