Heidfeld settles in at Jordan
Former Sauber and Prost driver Nick Heidfeld will get his first test with Jordan Grand Prix tomorrow (Wednesday) as the German bids to retain his place in Formula 1
Jordan remains Heidfeld's best bet of remaining in the sport's top flight, and he says he is prepared to take a pay cut to race for the Silverstone-based team. He will test for three days at Jerez, and although the team has yet to confirm its line-up for 2004, Heidfeld is understood to have a preliminary contract for a race seat.
"Money is not important for me," said Heidfeld. "I just want to stay in Formula 1. I am really looking forward to this challenge."
Team boss Eddie Jordan said: "Nick is a prime candidate for a revitalised Jordan Grand Prix next year and we are anxious for him to start getting to know the team at this stage. It is an important test as we have got a lot of new components to try as well as vital tyre testing for Bridgestone."
Formula 3000 racer Jaroslav Janis will also test for Jordan for two days in Spain this week.
