Villeneuve: I've never had so little fun
Jacques Villeneuve, facing what could be a last F1 appearance in front of his North American fans, said at Indianapolis that there are still no developments in extending his F1 career beyond the end of this year
Answering questions ahead of this weekend's penultimate round of the world championship, Villeneuve was irked by his portrayal as a driver desperate to hang onto his BAR seat.
"People make it sound as if I'm begging to stay," he said, "but the situation is that they are looking to see if I'm the right driver for them and I'm having to see if they are the right team for me. Right now, there is nothing exciting to say. There's two races to go and that's all I know."
Commenting on rumours that he might not drive for BAR in the season-closing race at Suzuka and on talk of the team being unimpressed with his work ethic, Villeneuve added: "Rumours are created to make people believe things. They can be very powerful. People get bored and sometimes rumours are created on purpose. A lot of it is entertainment. All I can say is that I've never worked as hard as in the last two years and I've never had as little fun. There is nothing wrong with my work ethic."
