Schumacher vows to fight to the end
Michael Schumacher has refused to give up the fight for his record-breaking sixth world title despite the mounting challenge from Juan Pablo Montoya and Kimi Raikkonen, and has said that he will fight to the final bend to retain his championship
The German found his lead in the drivers' standings cut to just one point following the Hungarian Grand Prix, a race in which Schumacher could only finish one lap down in eighth. But the Ferrari star insists he will fight as hard as he can for the crown.
"I can only say I accept the challenge and will fight to the final bend to win the title," he told German newspaper Bild.
Ferrari will undertake a massive test programme in Monza next week, in an attempt to get back on terms with the resurgent Williams team. "This is probably the most important test we have ever faced at Ferrari. But whoever writes us off has obviously not seen what we have demonstrated for the past few years.
"Ferrari is a really strong team and the greater the difficulty the more determined we are to win."
