Jacques is determined to stay in F1
Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve says he wants to stay in Formula 1 next year, despite speculation that he will not be able to find a seat
Villeneuve, who spun off in qualifying for the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim today, said: "There is no plan of not being in Formula 1 next year. When things go wrong it's a vicious circle and it's been rough for a couple of years. Some rumours make you smile and some of them make you very unhappy. But there's nothing to say right now."
As for his chances of staying at BAR next year, no doubt on a vastly reduced salary, all Villeneuve would say was: "We are heavily into discussions right now."
Regarding his general future, however, Villeneuve seems to be indicating that it is Formula 1 or nothing.
"Formula 1 is the top and after winning here it would be hard to be happy doing anything else," he said, "but you might get bored at home doing nothing, even though I can't imagine that right now."
