Davidson lands Jaguar reserve driver role
BAR test driver Anthony Daivdson has been lined up as Jaguar's reserve driver and is ready to stand in if Mark Webber or Antonio Pizzonia are unable to compete, according to this week's AUTOSPORT magazine
Team principal Tony Purnell refused to comment on the matter at the French Grand Prix last weekend, but it is understood that the team has reached agreement with BAR for Davidson to be on standby in case there are any problems.
"It is an unofficial reserve driver role, without any contract at all," said Davidson. "It could be good for me but it is a hard role to play because you don't want to wish anything bad on anyone. But at the same time you would love to get your break."
Davidson, who started two grand prix for Minardi last year, was due to run for the Veloqx Prodrive Ferrari team in the ALMS this year, but stood down from the role to focus on finding a full-time role within F1.
