Head frustrated by Canadian result

Ralf led the race from the start, but lost the lead to Michael at the first round of pitstops. He tailed his senior sibling to the finish, but didn't make any serious attempt at passing the Ferrari driver to win the race.

"With the terminal speed and power of the Ferrari and its traction out of the last corner, presumably there was just no way past." Head said. "It was a bit frustrating to finish second because one has got to remember that at the end on the first lap we were lying first and second, but one driver lost it at the chicane [Montoya] and lost 10 seconds. But I think one has to suspect that Juan might have got very bored if he was sitting on the tail of another car for 40 laps, but I can't really make any view of that, I wasn't driving the car.

"We spoke to the drivers before the race and told them a team result was important - we weren't going to be enthusiastic about one driver taking another off. But ultimately, if Juan had got up there earlier and shown signs of being able to overtake Ralf, we'd have asked Ralf to move over for him. Whether he would have obeyed or not..."

For his part, Schumacher Jr said he was never close enough in the places that mattered to have go at Michael: "If there is no possibility to pass, I will not try it."
