Barcelona F1 test: GP2 leader Gasly joins Kvyat at Toro Rosso

GP2 championship leader Pierre Gasly will represent Toro Rosso alongside Daniil Kvyat in this week's Barcelona Formula 1 test

Gasly will drive for the team on Tuesday before handing over to Kvyat on Wednesday.

A member of Red Bull's young driver programme since 2014, 20-year-old Frenchman Gasly has already had F1 test outings for both the senior team and STR last year.

He leads the GP2 standings after taking third and second place finishes in last weekend's Barcelona season-opener on his Prema team's debut in the category.

Kvyat believes his participation in the test will be an important part of his resettling process at Toro Rosso after being ousted from Red Bull Racing.

The Russian finished 10th in his first race back with Toro Rosso, while his replacement Max Verstappen won.

"The car doesn't feel like mine at the moment so I just have to be patient," said Kvyat after the race.

"I need to personalise the car a little bit first of all but the general package is very strong.

"There are a few things that are taking a bit too much time to get used to and I feel like the car could become better with my guideline so I will be trying it in the test so the car is a bit easier to drive for myself.

"It will be very important to get a good test, as many laps as possible and try as many things for myself as possible. It will be extremely crucial."
