Brazilian GP: Fernando Alonso keen to just enjoy race

Fernando Alonso says he will go into the Formula 1 championship-deciding Brazilian Grand Prix in a relaxed frame of mind as there is nothing more he and Ferrari can now do

Alonso will start the finale three places behind Sebastian Vettel on the Interlagos grid, but needs to score 14 more points than the Red Bull driver to beat him to the title.

"There's not something that we can invent now, some great strategies or something like that," Alonso said.

"We just need to do our race. We cannot forget that to have any chance, we need to be on the podium.

"We need to concentrate on our race because it's not easy to get to the podium.

"If we get to the podium and have a chance, then it's up to the others. So it's out of our hands."

He admitted that changeable weather might help Ferrari, but said he does not want a downpour.

"Wet races are a bit more unpredictable so we need some kind of damp race with many things happening, because we know that in normal conditions, fighting for the championship will be very difficult," Alonso said.

"So we will see what happens. Rain, no rain, if it happens it will come.

"We will enjoy the race and I hope people will enjoy the race as well.

"When we cross the line, we will see which positions we are in."
