F1 Monaco GP Live Commentary and Updates - FP3 & Qualifying

Saturday's action from the sixth round of the 2023 Formula 1 season.

F1 is in Monaco for the sixth round this weekend and its jewel in the crown, as the paddock takes to the streets of Monte Carlo. 

This should have been round seven on the calendar, but the weather emergency in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy led to last week's Imola event being cancelled. 

Red Bull will be looking to continue its run of 1-2 finishes in 2023, with Max Verstappen eager to strengthen his position as the championship leader after leading FP2 on Friday from the Ferrari duo.

FP3 starts at 11:30am BST on Saturday, with qualifying at 3pm BST.

Bottas is currently second - 0.305s back - with Gasly third.
While we were focusing on Ocon, Perez completed his effort to go fastest with a 1m 15.641s.
Green flag
After a system reset, Ocon recovers back to the pits. After a sudden snap from the rear of his car, he slowed to a halt. This is not the moment to have a problem of this nature.
Yellow flag
Ocon stops in the tunnel and reports he has no power.
A purple first sector for Perez - naturally - but the rear was incredibly loose around Sainte Devote.
But only for a moment! Perez, Ocon and Gasly have now left their garages with all three on soft tyres. Fingers crossed for a time to be set! 

Perez is crawling around on his out lap, hinting that something spectacular could be set to follow.
After a couple of exploratory laps, the track has once again fallen silent with no times set.
Alonso has widely been tipped to have an outside chance of securing pole position today, and given his form so far this term, it's difficult to disagree with this sentiment.
First out - after a minute of dead space - are the Aston Martins of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. The two AlphaTauri drivers also join them.
There is no flurry of activity to join the track immediately. Only F3 has run so far today, so there is plenty of cleanup work to be completed before it is possible to register a serious time.
Green flag
The green flag is shown we are go in Monaco.
Looking ahead to the coming hour, this is one of the most important sessions of the year, with a single error having potentially disastrous consequences for the remainder of the weekend.

Single lap pace is almost everything in Monaco, so don't expect teams to focus too much on long runs.
Breaking news
One of the key talking points coming into the weekend was the significant upgrade package expected from Mercedes. And 'significant' was certainly the correct way to describe the updates, with six key changes made, details of which can be found here.

Conditions are once again glorious in the Principality, with the sun beaming down on the iconic layout. 

Air temperatures are 26.5°C with the track a toasty 43.9°C. Wind speed is minimal at 0.6mph.
Breaking news
The action has been frantic so far this weekend with FP2 coming to an early close after Sainz made contact with the wall on the exit of the Swimming Pool complex. Max Verstappen was the fastest driver.
