Stopwatch
That's swiftly trumped by Leclerc, who sets a 1m31.085s.
Stopwatch
Vandoorne's first time on the board is a 1m31.622s.

That's a bit more like it. Nine cars are out on track now, with Vandoorne one of those still out there and on a flying lap.
Radio Comms
"No power," reports Vandoorne over the radio. He's told not to worry by his team and wait for the temperature to drop a bit.
"We wanted a slow out-lap anyway," comes a follow-up message.

Vandoorne spares us all and heads out on track.
This is going to be a very easy session report (to write, at least) as things stand.

Information
While we wait for someone to get us going, a little bit of AOB for you.
Grosjean's Haas team-mate Kevin Magnussen was also involved in a spot of bother in FP1 for allegedly blocking Fernando Alonso on track. Magnussen was summoned to the stewards, but no action has been taken.

Not that you'd know it. All 19 cars are still in the garage.

One man who won't be taking part in second practice is Romain Grosjean. He binned his Haas in FP1, suggesting a bump through Turn 1 prevented him from deactivating his DRS in time to prevent a spin.

Sun
FP2 is coming up in around 10 minutes' time. The scorched grass is still a big giveaway at Silverstone - it's hot, hot, hot and blue skies are the order of the afternoon.
Good afternoon, and welcome back to our live coverage of the British Grand Prix weekend from Silverstone.

Here is our full report from that session. We'll see you again in around two hours for second practice:

Information
Final top 10 in FP1: Hamilton, Bottas, Vettel, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Grosjean, Perez, Ocon, Stroll.
Twitter
Checkered flag
Chequered flag for FP1 - Hamilton leads a Mercedes 1-2 at Silverstone.
Green flag
The marshals roll the car into the pits, and we have a clear track again for the final 90 seconds of FP1.
Radio Comms
Verstappen thinks it's a gearbox problem.
Yellow flag
Verstappen is climbing out, having pulled up alongside the pit wall.
Yellow flag
Virtual safety car for the stranded Red Bull.
Crash
Verstappen has stopped on the start/finish straight!
Alonso's time off the theoretical back row is short-lived, thanks to Honda-powered Hartley moving back ahead of him.
Radio Comms
Gasly has been complaining about his car on the straights, and he's asked his team 'what's happening?'. Toro Rosso reckons a change of wind direction - a regular topic of conversation at Silverstone - is to blame.
Gary Anderson
The Mercedes looks stable and well planted through Abbey. It’s not easy but if the driver gets it right, the car responds well.
Verstappen improves - he's sixth and 0.8s off the pace now.
Alonso making gains - he's up to 18th.
Information
Top 10 with 10 minutes to go in FP1: Hamilton, Bottas, Vettel, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Grosjean, Perez, Ocon, Stroll.

Alonso finds nine seconds next time around, but that was clearly a lap to sort himself out as he's still 4.3s off the pace and at the bottom of the pile.
Twitter
Alonso stays out, and finally appears on the timing screen a cool 13 seconds off the pace. 15 minutes to go for him to get a proper time in the bag.
Crash
Alonso has been off at Becketts after a high-speed moment, so that's another lap ruined.
