Radio Comms
Hartley is asked "through which axle can you feel the vibrations?" and he says it's "the whole car, so I'm not sure if it's the track surface". Told ya...
Stopwatch
Hartley has vibrated his way to the first time of the session - 1m35.079s.

A rare look at the blue-marked hard tyres from Pirelli this morning.
Radio Comms
"Please check for vibrations," reports Hartley. It could just be the bumps on the new surface!

You know it's a quiet start to a session when the official F1 team radio feed is playing "radio check" messages.
We've doubled up on our trackside manpower for this session: we'll have updates from Edd Straw and ex-F1 designer Gary Anderson once we get some proper action out there.

Verstappen, Hamilton and Bottas are the only drivers we've not seen a lap from yet. Nobody has posted a time yet.
Bottas's Mercedes makes it about halfway out of the garage before his engine is switched off and rolled back in. Odd start to the session for the second Mercedes.

Sun
As always (ha!), it's another scorching British summer day at Silverstone. 'Typical British weather', as our international colleagues like to always remind us whenever it rains in their country...
By 'it', we of course mean the Formula 1 world championship (what else?!), which returns to the venue that hosted its first race back in 1950. Welcome to coverage of the British Grand Prix weekend from Silverstone.
It's coming home.
