Lap 34: Kubica pits the Renault from fifth and is away on his hard tyres.
Lap 33: Meanwhile, Vettel is back up to full speed - almost matching the leaders' pace. He's just a fraction behind Webber now.
Lap 33: Button makes a mistake at the first chicane, putting Alonso right on his case.
Lap 33: Ferrari may be wise to test out the hard tyre pace with Massa first.
Lap 32: The soft tyres continue to work well for the leaders, so it is a tricky call for the McLaren and Ferrari engineers on who blinks first.
Lap 32: Force India are ready to receive Liuzzi ... and yes, he pits from 12th. He takes on the hard compound and rejoins after a 4.0s stop.
Lap 32: Massa is 2.7 seconds behind Alonso but set the fastest lap.
Lap 31: Race control reports that the pitlane is now clear, with the ambulance having left the scene.
Lap 31: Alonso responds with another fastest lap, with the gap now 0.9 seconds as the teams ponder exactly when to make a stop.
Lap 31: An ambulance has arrived in the pitlane to treat one of the HRT mechanics, who was working on Yamamoto's pitstop, when the Japanese driver decided to go.
Lap 31: Adrian Sutil is continuing his charge through the field. He's still 15th but closing down a 5s gap to de la Rosa at half-a-second per lap.
Lap 31: Vettel is actually closing back up to team-mate Webber, with that engine gremlin seeming to have been cured for now.
Lap 30: Schumacher is almost four seconds behind eighth placed Vettel, with Buemi almost 10 seconds behind the Mercedes in 10th.
Lap 29: Vettel's pace is fine at the moment and he is comfortably holding off Schumacher down in eighth.
Lap 29: Button sets the fastest lap as the teams ponder the best time to make a stop for the switch to hard tyres.
Lap 28: Webber is harrying Hulkenberg for sixth as he desperately tries to inflict points damage on the eliminated Hamilton.
Lap 28: Glock did hold onto track position over Kovalainen after that round of stops and the gap is just 0.4s as they fight over 19th.
Lap 28: Button leads by a fraction from Alonso as the pitstops approach at Monza.
Lap 28: Trulli and di Grassi pit this time. Trulli was leading the newer teams class in 16th place.
Lap 27: This will be interesting between The Virgin and Lotus. It looks like Glock has just managed to keep track position.
Lap 27: Meanwhile, Hulkenberg has bypassed the first chicane over the run-off, keeping Webber at bay.
Lap 27: The lead scrap is through on Alguersuari, with Trulli's Lotus the next car to lap.
Lap 27: De la Rosa is 14th having stopped but he is now 18s behind Petrov. Sutil is 15th with Trulli 16th. Glock pits the lap after Kovalainen.
Lap 26: Button and Alonso are through on Glock, but Alguersuari is the next target and his Toro Rosso is quick down the straights.
Lap 26: Kovalainen was tight up behind Glock for the first stint and will be looking to jump the Virgin driver.
Lap 25: Button is now tailing Glock as he struggles to clear the backmarkers.
Lap 25: Buemi is 10th, with Barrichello 11th, Liuzzi 12th and Petrov 13th as Kovalainen pits.
Lap 25: Vettel has recovered his pace with a lap of 1m26.704s. Schumacher is 2.7s behind in ninth place as Yamamoto pits.
Lap 25: Button is closing rapidly on a squabbling pack of Kovalainen, Alguersuari and Glock.
Lap 24: Massa has set the fastest lap as he tries to close back up on Alonso and Button.
Lap 23: Up front, the lead gap is down to 0.7 seconds and Alonso has very good pace at this stage.
Lap 23: Alguersuari now pits to take that drive-through penalty. He is in the lane for 15.0s and rejoins.
Lap 23: Schumacher is closing on Vettel, who lost two seconds on his latest lap but is continuing for now.
Lap 22: Adrian Sutil also passes Trulli for 16th as we wait for Alguersuari to pit for his penalty.
Lap 22: Webber has easily passed his team-mate and this could be another serious blow to Vettel's title challenge.
Lap 22: Vettel is reporting engine problems in his Red Bull!
Lap 21: Alguersuari passes Trulli for 15th position. He has been given a penalty but wants to pull away from the Lotus as much as he can before coming in.
Lap 21: Rosberg is now 10.1 seconds further down the road, urged on by engineer Jock Clear ahead of his stop.
Lap 21: Trulli benefits from those stops and is up to 15th, but he has Alguersuari and Sutil right on his gearbox.
Lap 20: Alonso sets the fastest lap again, closing to just a second behind Button's McLaren.
