A day after taking his first DTM podium, Antonio Felix da Costa secured his maiden pole position in the series at Zandvoort, leading an all-BMW top four

Zandvoort DTM: BMW's Antonio Felix da Costa takes first pole

Despite cooler and cloudier conditions than the first two days, BMW's dominance at the Dutch circuit continued.

Audi's Miguel Molina and Mercedes driver Pascal Wehrlein were at the top of the times with 90 seconds remaining, but they didn't finish there.

Bruno Spengler, Augusto Farfus and Saturday winner Marco Wittmann moved into the top three inside the last minute.

Then, as the chequered flag was readied, da Costa logged his 1m30.483s lap to pip Spengler to pole by 0.058 seconds.

BMW claimed a record sweep of the top seven in Saturday's race, and da Costa acknowledged that performance weights - with most Audi and Mercedes drivers running in the region of 25kg heavier than BMW drivers - is a factor.

"This weekend is working out for all of us, especially me," he said.

"I feel good in the car and can make it work, so I'm happy with where I am and happy for BMW.

"We must not get too confused, obviously we're a little bit lighter than Audi and Mercedes, but this track good for us, and we can make the tyres work.

"That's where we struggled at the Lausitzring, especially, to make them peak, now we have to make them last the race."

Molina and Wehrlein will start fifth and sixth, ahead of Timo Glock, whose BMW crawled to a halt at the end of the session.

The Mercedes of Daniel Juncadella, Gary Paffett and Christian Vietoris completed the top 10. The next-best Audi after Molina is Edoardo Mortara in 12th.

Championship leader Jamie Green will start 18th, while rookie Tom Blomqvist was among those affected by traffic late in the session.

A late lap with a personal-best first sector and outright fastest second sector was ruined when he caught a slow pack on out-laps looking to find clear air, and Blomqvist will start 21st.
