Norisring DTM: Robert Wickens fastest for Mercedes in wet practice

Rain arrived in the region overnight and fell steadily throughout the 45 minutes of running, most of which featured championship leader Jamie Green atop the timesheets.

Wickens went fastest with 13 minutes remaining and improved the following lap to a 54.933s, which was 0.0154 seconds clear of Audi's Mike Rockenfeller.

As conditions improved slightly late in the session, Rockenfeller was among those to find time, along with Timo Glock and Timo Scheider.

As a result, Green ended the session fifth, ahead of Martin Tomczyk, Daniel Juncadella and Pascal Wehrlein.

Friday pacesetter Gary Paffett recorded the 12th-fastest time, while Mattias Ekstrom - who won the wet race at Hockenheim's season opener - was 14th.

Glock and Wehrlein were among those to have minor moments, with rookies Tom Blomqvist and Maximilian Gotz doing the same on their way to 17th and 24th respectively.
