DTM to make Russian debut with 2013 Moscow race
The DTM will visit Russia for the first time in 2013 after confirming a date at Moscow Raceway
The Moscow event will be the seventh of 2012 on the expanded 11-round calendar revealed on Tuesday.
"For DTM, the race in Moscow is an important step on the way to breaking into new markets," says Hans Werner Aufrecht, chairman of DTM organiser the ITR.
"For the series and our manufacturers - Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz - racing in a country such as Russia represents a big chance of presenting themselves internationally in front of a new crowd."
Eight of the nine venues that hosted points-paying events this year remain on the calendar.
The one 2012 circuit missing is Valencia, which had been expected to lose the rights to host the Spanish round to Barcelona.
Currently the September 29 date has been left blank, with a venue - possibly outside of Spain - to be confirmed at a later date.
The non-championship 'show' event, which has been held at Munich's Olympic Stadium, has been dropped because the series' aim of making the event a championship round has failed.
Aufrecht said that no method of ensuring "complete parity on a parallel circuit" could be found.
