Audi tactics to be investigated

The 2008 A4s of Oliver Jarvis, Alexandre Premat and Markus Winkelhock all slowed dramatically on some laps towards the end of the race. Jarvis and Premat then offered little resistance to title-chasing Mattias Ekstrom after he made up a gap of five seconds in four laps and went on to take second place.

Further back, Winkelhock slowed dramatically on lap 34, losing roughly three seconds in the first sector. That meant he went from challenging Martin Tomczyk for fifth, to backing Bruno Spengler up, allowing Timo Scheider to challenge the Canadian.

Team orders are officially banned in the DTM, although teams have often disguised changes of positions in the past. The matter will now be investigated by the DMSB, which plans to speak with the drivers and teams involved this evening, before deciding if the situation needs to be investigated further.

DMSB delegate Christian Schacht said: "We would like to make an examination of what happened in the closing laps of the race, and the course of action that led to some of the drivers' positions.

"Thus the results will remain provisional until the inquiries are carried out. Unfortunately I cannot promise that this will be finalised today, or even the next day."
