Alesi slams DTM driving tactics
Former F1 star Jean Alesi has criticised driving standards in the DTM in this week's AUTOSPORT magazine
Alesi, the highest placed Mercedes driver in the feature race at Hockenheim last weekend, was angered by the tactics of Audi's Christian Abt. The pair clashed early in the race, which temporarily cost Alesi two places, although he recovered to finish third on his series debut.
"He was not very correct," said Alesi. "We have a racing code in F1, and I think we can do a better job here. We need to sit down and talk about this.
"I don't think he did it to push me off, but we need to get a good balance of what is fair. It is important that we have as many cars on track as possible."
Abt, renowned as one of toughest drivers in the DTM, was unapologetic.
"Now Jean Alesi knows who I am," he declared. "That wasn't the case a few weeks ago."
The full story appears in this week's AUTOSPORT, which is on sale now priced £2.80.
