Green: Sixth a major disappointment
Jamie Green said that his sixth place finish in the latest round of the DTM at Lausitz represented a major disappointment
Green, who was one of the pre-season title favourites, started the race from the front row, but was passed easily by winner Martin Tomczyk early on.
He then fell back into a battle involving his HWA Mercedes team-mate Gary Paffett and the Abt Audi of Oliver Jarvis, and was on course for seventh before Miguel Molina retired ahead of him.
"When you start second, you want to finish higher than sixth, and you expect to finish higher than sixth. From the front row, it's massively disappointing," he told AUTOSPORT.
"I was able to defend pretty well from Jarvis in the middle of the race, but I couldn't do anything about Tomczyk. To be honest, I didn't expect him to try to pass me - I had no idea he'd got such a good run off the last corner."
With four races gone, Green lies sixth in the championship - 17 points behind leader Tomczyk - and now heads to the Norisring next weekend - the scene of victories for the past three years - in need of at least a podium to keep his title hopes alive.
"I've had a lot of success there in the past, winning three times, but they've all been in a 2008 car, and I have a new [2009-spec] one now, so maybe I've lost my lucky charm. I'll be giving it everything to win though."
