Vauxhall take one-two in race one
VX Racing have taken a one-two finish in race one at Rockingham, with Italian star Fabrizio Giovanardi coming home ahead of Tom Chilton
Pole-sitter Darren Turner's SEAT Leon failed to start on the grid, gifting second-placed Giovanardi the lead as the race got underway. He immediately pulled out a gap over Jason Plato, with Chilton close behind in third.
The order stayed the same until the engine in Fiona Leggate's MG ZS gave way, and put oil down all the way from the final Brook esses through to Turn 1. Most of the front-runners went off the track at Brook, but while Giovanardi held on to his lead, Plato gave way to Chilton.
The Team Dynamics Honda Civics of Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal came home fourth and fifth respectively, while Mike Jordan was the highest-finishing independent driver in sixth place.
