Vauxhall cautious despite form

VX Racing are refusing to get too excited about their recent form in the BTCC ahead of this weekend's fourth round of the season at Croft

Fabrizio Giovanardi has taken four wins from the past six races, but team boss Ian Harrison has warned that there is still a long way to go in the season.

"We are good at the moment, but we mustn't get ahead of ourselves," he said. "It's only the third race weekend gone and a lot can change.

"We are heading to Croft aiming to keep finishing in the points, staying out of trouble, and finishing in the points. Then we will see how it turns out."

Giovanardi admitted after Thruxton that he is in no hurry to get into the lead of the championship, despite closing the gap to Jason Plato to just nine points last time out.

However, the Italian is still expecting to have a good weekend at Croft, where he managed to race from the back of the field to fifth in one of the races last year.

"Croft should be another good result for us," he said. "I had solid points finishes there last year and it's a fun but tricky circuit.

"I don't really care if I'm leading the championship after Croft, as long as I'm in the lead at the end of the season."
