Turner completes SEAT clean sweep

Darren Turner claimed his second British Touring Car Championship victory of the year in the final race of the day at Knockhill to complete a clean sweep of wins for SEAT

Turner, who started second, out-dragged Andrew Jordan to the first corner, resisted a determined effort from Rob Collard early in the race, then pulled away to win by two seconds.

Collard equalled the best finish for the Motorbase squad, while Jordan ran third all race to equal the best result of his short career.

A chaotic midfield scrap featured no end of contact between the battling rivals. Mat Jackson, Colin Turkington, and Gordon Shedden all had offs at Clark, with, predictably, Fabrizio Giovanardi picking his way through the mayhem from seventh on the grid to finish fifth behind Mat Jackson.

Giovanardi's only realistic title rival Jason Plato, who began the race 35 points behind the Italian, was eliminated on lap five when he and Tom Onslow-Cole made contact on lap five and Plato ended up in the tyre wall at the pit entrance.

Giovanardi now holds a 41-point lead with six races to go and can take the title at Silverstone in two weeks time.
