Thompson praises the BTCC
Former double British Touring Car Champion James Thompson sees the championship only getting better this season, as he admitted he will miss the experience of running a full BTCC season
Thompson will race this year a full season of WTCC for SEAT, but he will still run in six rounds of the BTCC series, in which he's raced for over 11 seasons.
"I'm a little bit sad not to do a full season again this year," Thompson said at the Autosport International Show today. "But the opportunity [of racing for SEAT in the WTCC] was just too good to be true."
Thompson praised the BTCC and was adamant the series' future looks bright.
"I think the future is very rosy," the Briton said. "I've raced in quite a few championships, and I have to say the racing in BTCC is the most fanatic. It's fantastic. And I think this year the championship will go up another level.
"Obviously we're losing [former BTCC champion] Yvan [Muller], but we're getting [former ETCC champion] Fabrizio Giovanardi. So the racing will be exciting as always - racing in the true sense of the word, not staged."
