In-Front to enter privateer Alfa

In-Front Motorsport will enter a privateer Alfa Romeo 156 in the British Touring Car Championship this season for VW Cup racer Mark Smith

Mark's father, John Smith, runs the professional Hednesford-based squad, and the team are currently putting the finishing touches to their Alfa, built by Birmingham-based PT Motorsport.

The Alfa will be almost identical to those seen competing in last year's WTCC, but is built around a shell from the Italian manufacturer's official team N-Technology.

John Smith said: "It is going to be a learning process for all of us, but we have been in motor racing for 15 years and have varied experience. We realise that we are a small team compared to others in the BTCC.

"Mark decided that he wanted test his metal against the BTCC boys, many of whom he has competed against in previous years. It will be interesting to see how we progress throughout the season."

In-Front are the fourth new team in recent weeks to announce plans for the British series. The Eurotech and Motorbase Performance outfits will each enter with Honda Integras, while Geoff Steel Racing has acquired Dirk Muller's WTCC Schnitzer BMW E46.
