Shedden replaces Eaves at CVR

Gordon Shedden will return to the British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton this weekend after replacing Dan Eaves at Clyde Valley Racing

The Scotsman, who has 10 BTCC wins to his name, has not raced since the Brands Hatch season opener, after which he was replaced in the Team Dynamics Honda line-up by former champion James Thompson.

Shedden, who will stay with the team for the rest of the season, said: "I was approached by [team boss] Colin Neill very recently and things have moved fast to this point. I wanted to be part of a team where I can make a difference. The team is in a position right now where it is ready to move forward and I intend to help them do just that.

"Having been tormented on the track by SEAT Leons for the last few years in the BTCC it will be good to finally sit in one. We all understand it will be a challenging weekend [at Snetteton] and I will have to get used to the race characteristics of the car, although there are obvious similarities to what I have driven previously this season."

Neill said that the decision to replace Eaves - who had been contracted to the team until the end of 2010 - with Shedden was due to commercial reasons, and not performance-related.

Neill said: "We made the decision to look for another driver based on the commercial downturn and it in no way reflects Dan's commitment this year - he has had so much bad luck and limited time on track.

"We have spoken with him and although disappointed he understands the situation. He has made a significant contribution to the team over the past 18 months or so and will continue to do so."
