SEAT retain Plato, Turner for 2008

SEAT Sport UK will retain Jason Plato and Darren Turner for the 2008 season, the team confirmed on Friday

Next year will mark Plato's fifth consecutive season with the team, while Turner will enjoy a third year after joining the squad in 2006.

"I'm really looking forward to the start of the 2008 season," said Plato, runner-up in the championship in 2007.

"We have achieved so much as a team in just four years and we all know that we must continue to raise our game and do all we can to enable us to challenge for all the Manufacturers', Drivers' and Teams' titles.

"The BTCC is a very tough championship to win, but we know what's needed to succeed and we'll be fighting hard for every race win in 2008. I'm really optimistic about next season and can't wait to get racing again."

Turner added: "I'm relishing the opportunity to be back racing in the BTCC with SEAT next year and I'm delighted to have been given the chance to have a crack at the full season again. This year I had the best qualifying average of any driver, I was really pleased with my pace and with my three race wins.

"It was unfortunate that I wasn't in the running for the Drivers' title at the end of the year, but I learnt a lot about touring car racing this season and I hope to put all that knowledge to good use in 2008. I want to start the new year a lot stronger and fight for race wins from the beginning.

"It's all very positive and between Jason and myself I'm sure we can mount a strong challenge for all three Championships that are available to us."
