SEAT enter three cars for Silverstone

SEAT will enter all three of their star drivers for the British Touring Car Championship finale at Silverstone on October 15

The UK team will enter three cars for the first time this year, as Jason Plato will be joined by both Darren Turner and World Touring Car Championship contender James Thompson.

The pair have shared the second SEAT Leon alongside Plato this year, with Turner replacing Thompson whenever there has been a clash with the WTCC.

Both have impressed when given the chance, and SEAT have drafted them both in to help secure the manufacturers' title at Silverstone. Turner will drive the regular second car, while Thompson will drive his WTCC Leon.

SEAT UK motorsport manager Scott Dennis said: "Running the three drivers that have contributed so much to our successful season to date is a fitting way to end our campaign.

"But the job isn't over and we mustn't get carried away before we've secured the manufacturer's title, and that's what we are focused on doing."

SEAT currently lead Vauxhall by 65 points in the standings with 81 available at Silverstone. The British outfit have run three cars all year, although rules state that only two cars can be nominated for manufacturer points.

Dennis also hopes that there might be the opportunity to enjoy at least one frantic BTCC race as just a spectator this year.

"Hopefully come race day we can win the title in either the first or second races and actually enjoy watching a race for once," he said.

The teams' championship is also still undecided, although Team Halfords currently lead the standings by 55 points from SEAT.
