Plato thankful for poor weather
Jason Plato believes that the weather was the main reason that SEAT were so strong at Donington on Sunday
The 2001 champion moved back into the lead of the BTCC standings with two wins from the three races, at a track where he had expected to struggle.
"Bearing in mind we came to Donington expecting it to be a case of damage limitation, we've ended up scoring a great deal of points," he said.
"The great British summer has played into our hands, because that's what has made the difference today."
Plato believes that the wet conditions meant that SEAT were able to play to their strengths in the races, as he feels they have struggled for engine power this year.
"The wet is a great engine leveller, engine performance becomes less important and it's more about the car," he said. "As we know, the Leon has a fantastic chassis.
"We've taken 15 points off Vauxhall in the manufacturers' standings, we've taken the lead in the teams' championship and I'm back in the lead of the drivers' standings. It's been a top weekend."
