Neal tips Plato for 2007 title

Matt Neal believes that Jason Plato is in the best shape ahead of this year's British Touring Car Championship

Neal has won the title for the past two years, but as his team prepare a new car for this season, he is expecting Plato and SEAT to be strong from the first round of the year.

"This year Jason and SEAT have got to be favourites," said Neal. "In this series you've got to hit the ground running which I think Jason has figured out now.

"If he does that - and he should as their car is tried and tested - then we're all going to have a problem."

Neal believes that Team Dynamics will be able to catch up with SEAT through the season, but thinks that his title chances will depend on how well he can start the year in his new Honda Civic.

"We need to get our car sorted quickly," he said. "If we don't bleed too many points early on we should be able to come back and put Jason under pressure as we develop our car."

The BTCC season kicks off at Brands Hatch on April 1.
