Jordan eyes Thruxton victory

Andrew Jordan believes he can break his British Touring Car Championship duck at this weekend's season-opening round at Thruxton

The former Vauxhall driver has returned to his father Mike's Eurotech Racing squad this year and will race a Vectra powered by the new TOCA turbocharged engine.

"I really enjoy Thruxton, it's a great circuit, really high speed and it requires a lot of commitment throughout the lap," Jordan said.

"I have good memories of the circuit, in my first year I was challenging Jason Plato for the lead after starting on pole [in the reversed grid race] and last year I scored my Vauxhall podium, so hopefully it will be third time lucky for me this year."

Jordan set a top-10 time in the official pre-season test at Brands Hatch last week and should benefit from the top-end power of the turbo engine at what is the fastest circuit in Britain.

"If we have reliability on our side, then I think this will be the first real opportunity where we can showcase of the potential of the turbo engine," the 20-year-old Briton said.

"The Vectra was quick around this circuit last season and with my experience of the chassis combined with the power of the engine, we are confident of challenging at the front."
