Jelley will race at Rockingham

Stephen Jelley will race at this weekend's British Touring Car Championship round at Rockingham, after finalising an early release from his GP2 Asia commitments

The 25-year-old Briton, who drives a Team RAC BMW in the BTCC, had been a doubt for Rockingham due to a date clash with the final GP2 Asia rounds in Dubai, but will now compete in both events, having arranged a last-minute flight back to the UK on Friday night.

Jelley told autosport.com: "I'm going to qualify and do the first GP2 race with ART on the Friday, and then fly back to the UK so that I can do BTCC practice and qualifying on Saturday and then the races in the BMW.

"I'm not exactly sure how ART managed to make it so that I can go after one race, I just know that I've been told it's okay for me to leave on Friday night, so I'm sure they'll be fine."

Jelley, who partners Colin Turkington in the BTCC, lies 15th in the championship after the opening three races of the season at Brands Hatch.

He has yet to score in GP2 Asia, but came close with a ninth place in the Bahrain feature race last weekend.
