Jackson hoping for Snetterton rain

Mat Jackson hopes this weekend's British Touring Car Championship round at Snetterton is a wet one as he bids to heap the pressure on the so-far dominant Vauxhall squad in the title race

Jackson lies third in the championship, 43 points behind leader Fabrizio Giovanardi and 20 adrift of Matt Neal, but significantly ahead of both works SEATs of Jason Plato and Darren Turner.

And after putting in arguably the drive of the season in a wet second race two at Croft - in which he came from 18th on the grid to finish second - last time out, he wants more of the same at the Norfolk circuit.

"The weather will have a part to play in the weekend's proceedings," said the BMW Dealer UK driver, who has one win to his name this year. "But if it's heavy rain we should repeat the Croft success."

Giovanardi though, who won one of the three races at the track last year, is optimistic of fighting for victories in wet or dry conditions, despite seeing his team being soundly beaten by the SEAT turbodiesels at last month's official, and dry, test at the circuit.

"Our cars excel on high speed circuits so we are hoping to be a main contender for the weekend," said Giovanardi.
