Jackson expects to fight for victory

British Touring Car Championship rookie Mat Jackson believes that he will be able to fight for victory in the next round of the series

The 25-year-old scored a podium in race three at Brands Hatch on Sunday, but he heads to Rockingham with no success ballast due to his position in the championship.

Jackson had also finished third in the opening race of the day, but he was excluded for failing to come into the pits when his car was smoking heavily.

His exclusion meant that he finished the day in seventh place in the standings, while only the top five in the championship go into the weekend with success ballast applied.

"With no success ballast on our car going into Rockingham I'm confident we can be in the hunt for our first victory," he said. "I think people can see we mean business."

After his exclusion from race one, Jackson had to start race two from the back of the grid, and race his way into contention for a competitive grid slot for the final race of the day.

"To get up to third in race three was a great way to finish an excellent weekend for everyone involved in our team," he added.

"Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Matt Neal, Jason Plato, and Fabrizio Giovanardi is a tremendous buzz and we've all raised our game as a result."
