Giovanardi re-signs with Vauxhall
Fabrizio Giovanardi has re-signed with Vauxhall for next season, less than a week before he heads into a BTCC title showdown with Jason Plato
The Italian joined Vauxhall in 2006, and he has helped develop the Super 2000-spec Vectra that the team introduced for this year.
Giovanardi is nine points behind Plato heading into the final three races of the year at Thruxton, but he insists that his new contract will not affect him this weekend.
"I haven't any pressure on me because I have signed, but that does not give me a different approach to the last race," said Giovanardi.
"I come to Thruxton to try and win for me, for Vauxhall and for the team. It's going to be a great weekend."
VX Racing brand manager Stuart Harris added that Giovanardi deserved a lot of the credit for Vauxhall's return to form this year.
"Fabrizio has been instrumental in developing the Vectra into the race-winning car it is today," said Harris. "That has given us great success this year.
"The Thruxton weekend is going to be nerve-racking. There's really nothing in it, but I'm confident the team is on form and I'm looking forward to returning to winning ways."
