Collins tests Motorbase BMW
Ben Collins tested for British Touring Car Championship squad Motorbase Performance at Snetterton on Friday ahead of his debut in the series at Brands Hatch next weekend
The 35-year-old sportscar racer had only previously driven one of the team's BMW 320si machines in snowy conditions for an AUTOSPORT track test last December, and was impressed with the car in more regular settings.
"Today went really well and it felt really good to be sat in the BMW," he said. "It responds so well and is extremely reactive so as a driver I really felt in tune with the whole package as we dialled in a race set-up.
"Last year I tested this car at Brands Hatch for AUTOSPORT and the conditions were appalling so today was a far more realistic representation of what I can expect on the weekend, and I'm pleased with how it turned out."
Collins was joined at Snetterton by fellow BTCC rookie Sam Tordoff, who had his first run in a Triple 8 Vauxhall Vectra at the circuit ahead of his debut at Brands Hatch.
