BTCC unveils NGTC prototype image

The British Touring Car Championship has unveiled an image of what its prototype NGTC machine will look like

The car, which is being built around a Toyota Avensis chassis by GPR Motorsport, is due to run for the first time within the next two weeks in the hands of two-time BTCC champion James Thompson.

Thompson, the reigning European Touring Car Cup holder, will then give the car its public debut in free practice for the final round of the BTCC at Brands Hatch on October 9.

BTCC series director Alan Gow said: "These artist's impressions, rendered from the actual vehicle currently being built, show what a great looking car the new regulations will produce.

"I've no doubt a lot of people will be very impressed when they see the actual car at Brands Hatch."

The NGTC technical regulations will come into force next year, with teams being urged to adopt the new low-cost formula, although Super 2000 cars will still be allowed to compete in the championship.
