BTCC squad Eurotech to enter third Honda Civic Type R in 2016

British Touring Car Championship team Eurotech Racing will field three cars next season, with team boss and driver Jeff Smith acquiring another licence to take part in the series

The team is building up three new-shape Honda Civic Type R machines after securing a TOCA BTCC licence from Houseman Racing.

Houseman ran Stewart Lines in a Toyota Avensis in the BTCC last season.

Smith and Martin Depper will remain with the Eurotech team for the 2016 campaign.

Team principal Jeff Smith said: "We are delighted to get an extra licence.

"It was always our plan to expand and this opportunity came along which helped us to fulfil that. We are in talks with drivers over the third seat."

Eurotech will use the Toyota as a donor car as it builds up the third Honda Civic.

All three of the machines will be fitted with the new RML-developed spec parts in 2016.

Houseman Racing's Lea Wood, who runs the team and used to drive the Avensis, said he was exploring options to compete in a series away from the BTCC bill.

"It is a real shame to leave the BTCC after six years," said Wood.

"It has been a heck of a journey, but we have some exciting plans on the horizon. We will be able to reveal things soon."
