BTCC squad Eurotech to run new Honda Civic Type R in 2016
The Eurotech British Touring Car Championship team will upgrade its old-style Honda Civics for two new Type R versions in 2016, through an alliance with multiple title winner Team Dynamics
The operation is headed by racer Jeff Smith, who bought the team at the end of the 2014 season from former owner Mike Jordan.
Smith and team-mate Martin Depper have used the older-spec Civics this season but have forged an agreement with Team Dynamics to buy two newer cars.
"We have been impressed by the performance of the new Type R this season and feel it is the logical way to progress forwards," Smith said.
"We have negotiated a deal with Dynamics to enable us to run the latest car along with re-establishing the data-sharing agreement that Eurotech had with the team back in the 2012 and 2013 seasons."
Smith also said that the squad was keen to expand to run three cars should it be granted another TOCA BTCC Licence, which teams require to take part in the category.
The team is also due to relocate to larger premises.
"This will allow us to expand the BTCC operation and give us considerable scope to develop into other series should the right opportunity arise," he added.
The new-for-2015 Honda Civic Type-R, used by Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal, heads the 2015 BTCC drivers' and manufacturers' points.
