Bartrum impressed with trio after test

Motorbase boss David Bartrum was highly impressed with British Touring Car Championship hopefuls Jonathan Adam, James Nash and Michael Caine after the trio tested for the Independent BMW squad at Brands Hatch

Double SEAT Cupra Cup champion Adam had the most time in the car, running on both Tuesday and Wednesday of the two-day test on the Indy circuit, while SEAT Eurocup racer Nash and Porsche Carrera Cup runner-up Caine both drove on the second day.

"Jonathan was a bit of a star," Bartrum told . "We ran him really as part of the BRDC Superstars scheme, but he adapted quickly and was very professional out of the car, which was impressive. He'll make a good touring car driver.

"James was very quick, considering he'd never driven a touring car before. I'd seen him racing in the SEAT Eurocup at Monza and decided he'd be worth a test. He didn't disappoint us.

"And Michael was a bit better than I'd expected him to be. He wants to make the leap up to the BTCC, but only with a rear-wheel drive car, so if he can get a budget together then certainly he could so a decent job in the championship next year."

Also making an appearance in the BMW were former Carrera Cup racers Andy and Gary Britnell, both of whom had short runs at the end of the day "as a bit of a thank you for their help this season," added Bartrum.
