Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden to remain with Honda in 2012 BTCC

Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden will remain with Honda in next year's British Touring Car Championship

The pair, who currently occupy the top two places in the BTCC standings with three rounds remaining, will race Honda's new Civic, which will be built to NGTC regulations for 2012 by Team Dynamics.

Dave Hodgetts, managing director of Honda UK, said: "Both Matt and Gordon have been fantastic ambassadors for Honda during this season and we are delighted to have them racing for us in 2012.

"They will be behind the wheel of a race-prepared version of the new Honda Civic and we believe that will give us outstanding opportunities to further add to Honda's already-bulging trophy cabinet. We've still got a job to finish this year, though."

Shedden, who heads Neal by one point at the top of the championship, and is searching for his first BTCC crown, said: "It gives a strong sense of continuity and stability to the team and that's a very real benefit over some of our rivals."

The pair have achieved great success in their nearly four seasons as team-mates; Neal taking the 2006 title in a Team Dynamics Honda Integra-R and he and Shedden winning 36 races between them during 2006-'07 and 2010-'11.

Last year they finished second and third in the championship and won both the manufacturers'/constructors' and teams' titles for Honda.
