Campos joins Auto GP field for 2011

Campos Racing will join the Auto GP field next year after signing an agreement with the series, it was announced on Monday

The Spanish squad, which had gained an entry to join Formula 1 this year before Adrian Campos was forced to sell it to Hispania owner Jose Ramon Carabante, will line up two cars on next year's grid.

Campos Racing was founded by the former F1 driver back in 1998, and has won championships in several series, including GP2 in 2008.

"I believe Auto GP is the only championship that, also thanks to its agreement with Eurosport, can offer a place for those drivers who want to be professionals and that would not be acceptable in F1," said Campos.

"Their system of prizes, their prices, their cars of nearly 600 bhp and, above all, the promotion for the sponsors assured by Eurosport makes me believe that they will do an extraordinary championship.

"I am convinced that Coloni and Eurosport have really hit it on the nail and I feel proud to form part of this project and to work again with them. I am going to speak with the drivers that I have in my mind and to set up as soon as possible the team for this new challenge."
