Lancaster joins Auto GP field

Formula 2 racer Jon Lancaster will also compete in Auto GP this season after signing a deal with Super Nova Racing

Lancaster, 22, will replace former A1GP South Africa driver Adrian Zaugg for the third Auto GP event of the year this weekend at Brno. The deal comes shortly after the young Briton's impressive performance in testing at Barcelona, in which he posted the third fastest time at his first attempt behind the wheel.

"In Barcelona I really loved the car," said Lancaster. "I'm delighted to be here. I'm looking forward to first practice, I will use it to get back into the pace and get acquainted with the car again. I have good expectations as I know the track quite well, so I should be able to push quickly."

Super Nova's John Sears added: "Jon is one of Britain's most amazing talents and we have followed his career since the very first years. Having him with us is a huge pleasure, and we hope that we'll be able to help him to achieve the results he deserves. We think that we have what it takes to give him a very competitive car and we have very high expectations."

Lancaster made his Formula 2 debut at Magny-Cours last month and is likely to complete the full season in the single-make series. Prior to this year, he won five races in Formula Renault 3.5 and was also a victor in the F3 Euro Series.
